I’m a software engineer and R evangelist building open source tools for big data analytics, machine learning, and productionizing ML models. Currently, I spend most of my time on sparklyr for interfacing with Apache Spark, and MLflow for managing the ML lifecycle. Other packages I’ve been involved in include graphframes for doing graph analysis at scale, mleap for packaging Spark ML models for production, and the R interface to TensorFlow and Keras for building deep learning models. Prior to working on software full-time, I took on various analytics-related roles in different industries. One of these stints was in insurance, and I still actively participate in actuarial science research and present at industry conferences. In my spare time, I like to learn about (and drink) wine, and mix fancy cocktails.
